Baseline applications

Some baseline and useful apps to get you started.

1. Go here:

   • https://ninite.com/

   • Pick:

     • .NET 4.8

     • .NET Desktop Runtime x64 8

     • Anything else you want:

       • Discord

       • Steam

       • Firefox

       • Winrar

       • Notepad++

2. ISLC:

   • Download this: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ISLC/ISLC%20v1.0.3.2.exe

     • Place in your documents folder or something

     • Open it

     • Tick the two boxes at the bottom left

     • For list size do: 4000MB

     • For memory size do: your memory - 15-25%

       • Possible settings:

         • 16GB: 4000MB, 10000MB

         • 32GB: 4000-6000MB, ~18000MB

     • Wanted timer resolution: 0.50

     • Tick the enable custom timer resolution

     • Start

     • Minimize

     Should get more performance out of your PC and more free memory since it clears a windows problem that constantly allocates free memory to cache that does nothing but waste memory.

   • Restart to check if the tick box for task scheduler creation works or not, if not, create the task by your self.

3. Process Lasso (recommended) (optional)

   • Turn on Probalance

   • Performance mode:

     • Setup for your games, please don't have it on 24/7

   • (paid feature):

     • Shove your background tasks onto your weakest cores using core affinity

     • Place your games on the strongest cores, remove weak ones (unless 6 core cpu or lower)

4. MSI Afterburner (recommended) (optional)

   • Do not install Rivatuner

   • Enable voltage control in the settings

   • Core +100 and Memory +500 is basically guaranteed

     • Ensure you apply your settings and then save them to a profile.

   • Click on settings and make sure that the "start on windows" and "start minimized" are checked

   • IMPORTANT:

     • UNCHECK ALL IN HARDWARE MONITORING TO PREVENT MICROSTUTTERING

5. HWInfo64 (optional)

7. Fan Control (optional)

8. Free Download Manager (recommended) (optional)

   1. Fast downloading, overrides some download site limits

   2. Can do simple torrent downloading

9. Traymond (optional)

   1. Used for minimizing any application to the tray, pretty useful

10. MacType (optional)
