Drivers - Installing

Staying inside of safe mode:

  • Start the driver installer

  • When prompted:

    • Select installing Nvidia driver only

      • You can install the NVApp if you want, but I don't do so currently

    • Custom Installation over Express

    • Tick 'Clean Install' box

Navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository"

  1. Find the folder starting with "nv_dispi"

  2. Find this file "nvlddmkm.sys"

  3. Right-click it, Properties > Security

  4. Ensure Users group has FULL CONTROL

    1. If you can't use Edit to change, click on Advanced

    2. Where "Owner" is, click change

    3. Type in your username, click check names, should auto-fill and then click ok

    4. Click apply, then ok

    5. Now you can go back to Edit and change it.

Once done:

  • Win + R, msconfig, in "General", change to normal startup, apply, restart
