Requirements:
Windows 11
Choice of (worst to best):
Windows Auto HDR
Special K
RTX HDR
Requires Nvidia GPU
RenoDX
Requires ReShade
If there isn't a preset, expect to spend a few hours to fine tune
Setup time:
Windows Settings > Display (whichever one you want for HDR) > HDR (disable it)
Go into your monitor settings and fine tune the settings accordingly for HDR
For AW3225QF:
Game:
Preset Modes: Creator
Color space: DCI-P3
Gamma: 2.6
Brightness/Contrast:
Brightness 100%
Contrast 75%
Display:
Sharpness: 60% or more
Smart HDR: DisplayHDR True Black
Dolby Vision: Bright/Dark
Turn on HDR
Download 'Windows HDR Calibration' from Windows Store
Calibrate your monitor using it
AW3225QF: 500 on both brightness sections, 0 on darkness section
This should be the same for any OLED using Dolby Vision
Have the enhancement slider at the end all way at 0
Windows Settings > Display > HDR
Make sure your new color profile is in use
If you choose to use Auto HDR, turn it on here, else, turn it off
Windows Settings > Apps > Video Playback
Turn on 'Process video automatically to enhance it (depends on your device's hardware)'
If you decided to not use Auto HDR, this part is for RTX HDR, I cannot help you with the other two
Install Nvidia App, global settings, turn on RTX HDR and save
Please never, ever update your drivers through any app. Always download the driver directly.
For browser content: Nvidia Control Panel > Video > Adjust video image settings > RTX Video Enhancement: Tick both and leave on auto
Download:
NvTrueHDR:
Nvidia Profile Inspector (download the .zip file under assets):
Nvidia Profile Inspector XML for NvTrueHDR:
Extract the files into a folder in your Documents section or somewhere you won't delete accidentally
Run NvTrueHDR.exe and type in the name of the exe of the game you want RTX HDR to enhance, select the 'low' preset (minimal performance loss, very high has up to 10% fps loss)
I would recommend only using low. Very high can be used for external video players if you use them for non-HDR content.
Please note that you may have to have the DXGI swapchain layered for Vulkan engines
Nvidia profile inspector:
CustomSettingNames.xml should be in the same directory as nvidiaProfileInspector.exe
Start nvidiaProfileInspector.exe, and click the filter icon at the top
This will reveal a 'TrueHDR' section, if it does not, close the app and reopen.
Toggle:
TrueHDR flags: Enabled (Low Quality)
Everything else but 'RTX HDR...' flags to: ON
For RTX HDR flags, find your values using this:
You can set the contrast and saturation to the values below, the other two will be up to you to find
AW3225QF: Dolby Vision, so peak brightness ~500 nits
Peak Brightness: 0x000001F4
Middle Grey: 0x00000032
Contrast: 0x0000007D
Saturation: 0x0000004B
